Ohio Linux Fest was this past weekend and Haiku was represented by none other than long time community member Darkwyrm.  Everything went well and you can read about all the antics in his blog post.  With the alpha release, it appears that Haiku is beginning to gain some traction in the world!

I wonder if the release has attracted some developers for Haiku?

It has attracted some 3rd party developers who are starting to work on their own projects. There’s also been a lot of new users posting trac tickets and a few new developers have signed up with HaikuPorts as well.

I would guess there may be a little more interest in Haiku now but we still need to talk it up and get the word out. I think the big pushes for more developers are going to be at SCALE and a couple of the other big conferences at the beginning of next year.

I’ll be in the forums. Who knows, we might get a lot of users looking for answers in the spring 🙂
